Domestic Violence and Family Violence Prevention Month
The month of May sees a statewide campaign to raise awareness of domestic and family violence across the community. A range of events are staged that will raise awareness and help to draw attention to the problems that arise through domestic and family violence occurring in Australian homes everyday.

Remembrance Day Ceremony
Every year, the first Wednesday in May is set aside for Remembrance Day. It is a day to remember those who have lost their lives as a result of domestic and family violence, and their loved ones left behind.
The purpose of Remembrance Day is to publicly acknowledge the pain and many losses of adults, children and their families who have experienced domestic violence. It is also about the community saying to victims who have lost their lives and their families: 'We absolutely commit to working to ensure that no more precious lives are lost'.
The evening is held at Evandale Chapel and Lakes, arrival at 5.30pm for a 6pm ceremony.

Brisbane International Feminist Conference 2008
The DVPC GC Inc. are participating in the organising of the the Brisbane International Feminist Conference 2008 aims to further feminist dialogues about the status of women and the continued violence against women and children as human rights violations. Conference organisers believe that the status of women in Australia and indeed globally, has been on the decline in the last decade.
